STARTING ENGINES
This school assignment was all about storytelling. The concept needed to be based on a car. First we had to look at cars that we liked, once we had found one the designing began. It started with coming up with a target audience, or at least the kind of person you thought would drive the car. This person and car would be the start of the moodboard. The car which my design is based upon is the Mercedes Benz Count Trossi.
NEFARIOUS CLOCK
I think that the Mercedes Benz Count Trossi is a mysterious and maybe even a mischievous looking car. The perfect car for a villain. To capture this villain-like-feeling, I wanted to focus on shapes from the car. The language of the car screams dangerous and unpredictable. A key element of this is the triangle like vendor. Other shapes I focused on were the grill and headlights. At some point I decided to make a whole character out of the design. Like the rogue AI HAL-9000, who refused to help his crew, this clock also will do anything to keep somebody from getting to their objective (reading the time). The BG-9000 (BG is short for Bad Guy) displays time only as the seconds of the day.
BG also comes with his own font. This font only consists out of numbers. The numbers are made from his side profile.
